“I’m in hell. Well, Purgatory really, only they don’t have alcohol,” she grinned. “Ash is here. Again. She was here when Cerberus rebuilt me and I couldn’t cross over. My brother is too. Said it’s not my time to go. Again.” Allie rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. “Sure, hit me. I’ve got nothing better to do.”

Purgatory. Ew. That meant the Christian thing. Kasumi wasn’t going to think about it too hard. She was probably going to hell anyway, no matter what religion— except maybe salarian. “… Er, yeah, about that,” she muttered. “Your body was stolen at the hospital. Any ideas on that?”

Allie furrowed her brow. Who the hell would’ve stolen her body? “You sure the Alliance didn’t just scoop it up before you could get there? Otherwise, I have no idea.”

“I’m sure,” she responded firmly, a frown forming. “Assistants were freaking out. The one that didn’t make off with your body anyway. The guy was real sloppy about it. I can track him down. Problem is, there’s not much you can do with a body without money. Especially one with organ failure. No offense.”

Allie gave her a sad smile and waved. “I’m here. Well, not really. Here, but not here,” she shook her head.

Kasumi glanced away before nodding. “Alright,” she sighed. “… I’m sorry. I told you I’d be there, and I wasn’t. … Um. How is…” She waved to her spirit, hoping to convey the message.

She rolled her eyes. “It’s fine, K. You can’t be everywhere. And death? It’s….cold. Lonely,” her tone was sad as she tried to inconspicuously wipe at her eyes.

“No afterlife? … That’s almost a little disappointing,” she muttered distantly, still trying to grasp the situation in front of her. Kasumi supposed it wasn’t all that different when Keiji came back for a week, just… awkward. “Well, I guess you’re welcome to stay here. Um.”

She bit her lip. “… Uh. So. I do have a few questions actually.”

“I got the message today. I don’t know how to feel yet.

A part of me thinks I could’ve done something before this. She thinks I tried, but I really didn’t. I was disgusted. The fact that she could so carelessly push people away…

It reminded me too much of myself. I killed people simply because I wanted to that way. I didn’t care. I didn’t have a reason to care.

She was never like that though, and I know it wouldn’t have changed anything.

But… the feeling’s still there. I’m not the same person she thought I was. And hopefully, the others can take care of the funeral services better than I could.”

“… I’ve only been here for a few days, but you don’t need a whole lot of time to feel the presence of command that radiates from Ariel’s very being. Just from a look, I think she can get an entire room to quiet and listen.

She’s an excellent soldier and leader. There’s little doubt for that, but I don’t think my place is here. She’s almost… frightening. Reminds me of Kiera when she’s angry. That’s not a good thought to have.

I don’t think I want to meet her again after my contract’s ended.”

“I don’t know how to feel about Nisha. I don’t want to over-protect Tunri. He’s still an adult, as much as I like to mess with him sometimes.

There’s something this girl’s not sharing, but she’s so… gosh, sometimes she seems softer than he is, but the way she speaks, she’s definitely done worse.

In a way, it’s good. She’s someone that seems right in the middle. Someone that could show Tunri how grey the galaxy really is. On the other hand, I don’t really know anything about her.

I think, at least, she has good intentions. And she does care. I guess that’s good enough.”

reaverofreapers:

Natasha walked into her Silversun apartment and promptly stopped cold. The expected sight of her empty and relaxing home-away-from-home was far from what greeted her.

There, curled on on a single cushion, sat Kasumi, her face buried in her hands and her body shaking with the force of her sobs. In her efforts to reach her, she almost fell three times, only to collapse on her knees beside her. “Kasumi?” she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. “Kas, what is it? What’s wrong?”

The voice had started her. Truthfully, it hadn’t been the first time she had broken into Shepard’s apartment for a bit of venting. Nothing destructive. She didn’t want Tunri to walk into her like this, a mess.

But as Shepard looked at her, she couldn’t really find this better. A part of her saw pity in the way she seemed to reach for her, but she knew it was irrationality, just something else to fixate on. “… Oh, sorry,” Kasumi spoke quietly, trying to brush it away. “… I. I was hoping to be done before you got here. I’m fine.”
